Call for Tutorial Proposals (Deadline expired)

This call in .pdf

The organizing committee of the 23rd International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS 2013) invites proposals for its tutorial program. Tutorials will be held during the two days immediately prior to the plenary sessions of the conference and registration is free for ICAPS participants.

The tutorial program offers the attendees first-hand experience with state-of-the-art trends in research and applications by leading experts. Ideally, tutorials should be accessible for an audience of general AI researchers while  offeering interesting insights to experts in the specific field.

We invite proposals for quarter-day or half-day tutorials on automated planning and scheduling research and applications. Given the success of quarter-day tutorials in the past, we recommend the proposers to adopt the former length as it is popular with potential attendees. For half-day tutorials, we encourage the proposers to divide them into loosely coupled quarter-day tutorials such that one is not the prerequisite of the other.

We welcome proposals not only in all areas of automated planning and scheduling, but also in related technical areas. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Modeling frameworks for planning and scheduling problems
  • Heuristics and search mechanisms for planning and scheduling
  • Planning, scheduling, and optimization
  • Planning, scheduling, and SAT, SMT, CSP, and MIP techniques
  • Automatic learning for planning and scheduling
  • Parallelization of planning and scheduling algorithms
  • Integration of planning and scheduling
  • Integration of action and motion planning
  • Planning with time and resources
  • Planning and scheduling in hybrid discrete/continuous domains
  • Planning and scheduling in non deterministic or stochastic domains
  • Flexibility and robustness in planning and scheduling
  • Planning and Markov decision processes
  • Planning, automata, temporal logics, and model-checking
  • Plan execution, plan monitoring, and replanning
  • Plan recognition
  • Distributed or mixed-initiative planning
  • Domains of application of planning and scheduling

Tutorials should be designed to provide a comprehensive and in-depth perspective of some aspect of the state of the art in planning and scheduling research or applications. If you have any questions about the suitability of a particular tutorial topic please do not hesitate to contact the tutorial chairs.

Submission Procedure

Submissions should be sent by email to both tutorial chairs with the subject “Tutorial Proposal for ICAPS-13″ by October 29, 2012. A submission should include the title, summary, outline, and expected length (quarter or half-day) of the tutorial, as well as a short CV of the proposer(s), including a list of significant publications. Proposers will be notified by email of the acceptance or rejection of their proposal by November 19th, 2012.
